What an incredible October for Tech Thursdays! We had a record setting number of attendees come out, with one of our talks having more than 80+ attendees. Callia Inc., a flower deliver company, ranks 42nd on the Globe and Mail’s Top Growing Companies list in 2022 after recording 1,104% growth over 3-years.
The Government of Manitoba named five board members to their ‘fund of funds’ called Manitoba’s Venture Capital Fund (VCF). The newly appointed board includes Mike Pyle, Steve Kroft, Ray Bouchard, Barb Gamey, and Marshall Ring. As a fund of funds, VCF will be investing in other funds with the goal of attracting more capital to Manitoba.
Parallel, a platform that leverages machine learning to help consumers find the right clothing fit, has grown their team to 16 people, and have surpassed 100,000 users across 190+ countries.
Neo Financial has announced that Riley Pickerl and Yacine Bara—formerly of SkipTheDishes and Chroma—have joined Paul Card on their Senior Tech Leadership Team in Winnipeg. The additions affirm Neo’s willingness to make their Winnipeg office a tech hub.
Kisik Energy, a company that brings renewable energy to remote Indigenous communities across Canada, has launched a new content series on CBC Gem.

Walnut Insurance has partnered with Neo Financial to bring their insurance offerings to Neo’s customer base of over 1 million users.
QDoc, a virtual medical care platform, launched their product at Red River College, giving physicians access to 20,000 students and 2,500 staff.
Neo Financial launches bundles, a ‘pick-your-own-perks’ program on their credit card, that allows their customers to customize their rewards in categories like Travel, Everyday Essentials, and Food & Drink.
